BMW F 450 R Naked Motorcycle Unveiled Globally

BMW has globally unveiled the F 450 R, a road-focused naked motorcycle that utilizes the same 420cc parallel-twin motor seen on the F 450 GS, tuned specifically for street application.

The powerplant generates matching output numbers of 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm. The architecture is shared with the GS, featuring a tubular steel frame incorporating the engine as a stressed member, alongside a 43mm KYB upside-down fork and a KYB monoshock. Stopping duties are managed by a 310mm front disc paired with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper, alongside a 240mm rear disc. The machine features a standard seat height of 790mm, with accessory seat options including a 775mm low variant and an 810mm high version. Standard equipment across all variants includes heated grips and a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster complete with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and music playback controls.

Variant Lineup and Equipment

The motorcycle is sold in four distinct trims: Base, Exclusive, M Sport, and M Sport with Innovation Package. The entry-level Cosmic Black Base variant includes the standard equipment bundle. The Exclusive trim introduces a bidirectional quickshifter along with Sport suspension offering adjustable rebound and compression damping. Both M Sport trims incorporate a customisable Dynamic Pro riding mode and a dedicated TFT graphics layout displaying traction control, braking force, lean angle, and lap timer metrics. The flagship M Sport with Innovation Package incorporates the Easy Ride Clutch mechanism.

BMW has not yet announced pricing or an official release date for India. However, because the GS arrived in the domestic market shortly after its international debut, industry expectations point to an Indian launch within the next few months. For context, pricing for the F 450 GS begins at Rs 4.95 lakh, and the F 450 R is anticipated to be positioned below it within the portfolio.
